Around lunchtime, Tom hooked up my leash and we headed out for a long walk. It was raining a little and I was getting pretty wet, but, imagine my surprise when we arrived at a big building and Renee came out to join us on our walk. She was on her lunch break and we walked for a long time. Tom and Renee each bought sandwiches and do they ever smell good. It’s a good thing I’m not hungry. After we dropped Renee back off at work, Tom and I continued walking, until we came to a place called Blockbusters. Tom went inside, and he tied my leash to a bike rack. I was really, really good though. I just sat down and waited for him. Lots of people were going by and talking to me and a few patted me on the head. Then we walked home (Tom’s note: Toby was great, sitting outside. It’s the first time we have tried this experiment and he passed with flying colours. He couldn’t see me, but I was keeping a close eye on him through the window).
Tom got a phone call, and we headed out for another car ride. Caitlin and Matias are going away tomorrow on a long (5 week) trip to South America and she wanted to say goodbye to her Dad, and of course to me. We were almost late though, because we were in such a hurry, Tom locked all his keys in the house. We finally retrieved them though. When we got to Caitlin’s house, Karl and Matias took me for a good long run. Boy, can they ever run fast. Not as fast as me of course, but, Matias was running free and I was dragging Karl along on the leash. I bet I would have won that race without the extra weight. We all piled into the truck and went to Starbucks for coffee. I guarded the truck, but I could see them all through the window, so I was content. Then it came time to say goodbye and there were lots of hugs for me, oh yes and for Tom. I miss Caitlin and Matias already.
