January 4, 2007. Today started out like any other day. A cuddle and lots of ear rubs. We went to the park again and I just couldn’t help it, there were two little dogs that showed up and I just had to go and play. When I jumped on them, the lady was yelling, the dogs were yelping and Tom was running. What a commotion. Tom has the leash back on me and the two little buggers are yapping at me and being tough. The nerve of them. Hey, you guys weren’t so tough when I was free were you, huh? Hey, wassup? Where we going? Aw, how come I have to leave the park? I was here first.
Late in the day, there was a big change in our routine. Tom came out of the garage pulling a really big bag on wheels. Now he has two really big sticks in his hand, what the heck are those? They look scary! I don’t think Tom will hurt me, but, I’m not too sure about those sticks. They are really long and have a hook on the end of them. Tom is talking gently to me and letting me sniff them. He calls them hockey sticks. I don’t know what that means though. He put them into the back of the truck and we are off on another adventure.
We got to a really big place and Tom got out with the bag and the sticks. He said he was going to play hockey. Hey wait a minute, that’s that game we watched on TV the other day. Canada won the World Junior Championship or something. That really looks like fun, chasing that black thing around on the ice. I bet I could play that game really well. My job is to protect the truck though, and keep an eye on all these other people going past. There sure are a lot of them here. I love watching people. Another truck has pulled in beside us and there is another dog there. We can’t play together, but at least we can talk.
Back at home, Tom is putting all his stuff out to dry and other stuff into the washing machine. Hey, don’t wash that stuff Tom, it smells great! I’ll take care of it for you. Wow, do your hands ever smell good too, and they taste like old leather, mmmm, my favourite. Don’t wash those hands, I’ll take care of them for you.
