Finally, I decided it was time to go out. So I went and retrieved Tom’s clothes for him, one item at a time and dropped them on the floor by his feet. Tom got dressed and then it was time for play. First he had a few outside chores to do, and I sat patiently waiting for him. Well, at least until he moved out of sight, and then I was compelled to move where I could see him.

Off to the park, and imagine my surprise when my two new friends from yesterday were here again. Yahoo, friends to play with. We ran all over the park together, although, I kept herding the other two back, but, then, that’s what sheepdogs are supposed to do. Keep the flock together. We chased the balls, and ran. Once I ran over to the pool area where two Asian ladies were doing something called Tai-Chi. It looked pretty strange, so I just went up and said hello and got a pat on the head, and then I ran straight back to Tom and the others.
Then it was time for my friends to leave and I was sad to see them go. Tom and I played fetch some more, but, by now we had been out for an hour and I was too pooped to continue for very long. We did a long, slow walk home, where I got some water.

Today has been such a fun day. After we came home, I was allowed to run free in the back yard. Some well deserved down-time. I was able to run back and forth and talk to people and dogs passing. I was able to lie in the sun and enjoy myself. It felt almost like summer, except it was still nice and cool out. No commands to learn, no chasing balls, just some good old fashioned lay around and do what I want time. Because it was so mild out, Tom left the door open, and I was even able to run in occasionally to tell him what I saw and also to check that he was still there. I even took time out for some more ear, back and belly rubs. It’s a dog’s life, but, someone has to do it.
