Something To Crow About

April 30, 2007. After my bath on Saturday, Renee spent a couple of hours de-matting me with my comb. I was very patient with her and let her do it. She was doing a very good job and was so gentle it was amazing. In fact she did such a good job on Saturday, I let her do more on Sunday too.

Sunday, Tom and I went out to the park for our usual run. It almost didn’t happen because just as we arrived, so did a baseball team. Tom took me down to the lower field though and I got to run for awhile. Then when we came home we went to a birthday party. It was a friend’s mothers 76th. I had to wait in the truck, but I got to meet everyone right after the party.

I love meeting new people and getting all the compliments and pets. It’s great, just like being a celebrity. Even today I heard several people tell Tom that I am beautiful. I better not let this go to my head though. In the evening we went for a short walk because Tom still isn’t feeling too well. We did watch the hockey game and watched the Ducks beat the Canucks 3-2.

Today I was out in the yard in the morning. For some reason the paper was really late being delivered. When the guy finally arrived with the paper, he just threw it over the fence, over my head and managed to land it in a puddle near my water bucket. I didn’t even bark, so I don’t know why he wouldn’t bring it in. Of course, if he had delivered it on time, I wouldn’t have even been outside.

After that I was sitting by the old greenhouse and watching a crow pulling off padding around the poles. I guess he was using it for his nest. It was fascinating and I sat there watching him for a good 20 minutes. Finally the crow flew off.

Tom and I then went to the park and I got a run in for a good 30 minutes. It was a short one today but it is warm out and I was already tired from running around in the yard. Something quite funny happened today as well. A lady with two puff-ball dogs, that I jumped on several months ago was out on the park when we arrived.

Her dogs were well apart from her and even farther away from me. In fact, I couldn’t even really see them. Her dogs were off-leash and I was still on leash. The lady started screeching in a high pitched voice and started to run across the field. She squealed all the way to the fence where her dogs were and not listening to her.

She grabbed them and then disappeared over the hill with them. Tom didn’t even let me off-leash until she was out of view for some time. Then we started playing. About 15 minutes into our playtime, she re-appeared over the hill with her puff-balls on leash. They immediately started yapping at me and I ignored them. She almost literally dragged her dogs away on the leash. A complete over-reaction as I am a much different dog than I was months ago. I hope I don’t have a bad rep in the neighbourhood. Although, she drives here, so I don’t
think she lives in the area.

We’re not sure if we will be walking to meet Renee for lunch today. The walk last night and playtime in the park today have both exhausted Tom, so it is up in the air until later.
