Day 2 With My New Family

December 24, 2006. Christmas Eve and here I am in my new home with Tom and Renee. Last night I jumped into their bed and snuggled up for awhile. After about an hour I got down at the foot of the bed where I could better stand guard and protect my new family. Later I moved into the hallway.
I got a big surprise this morning and an even bigger shock. Another man walked in and caught me by surprise. He is quite a bit older, but, somehow familiar. I barked at him to let my new family know, but he seems friendly so I’m wagging my tail at the same time. He wait a minute, he’s petting me, and it feels really good. It turns out that this is Frank, Tom’s Dad. So if Tom is now my Dad, and Frank is his Dad, I guess Frank is my Grand-Pappy. My family is growing by leaps and bounds.

Wow, something I didn’t see last night, there’s a Christmas Tree here. Lots of presents to sniff. Now Renee is giving me big hugs and I’m getting pictures taken too. Let me go over and sniff this Frank guy again, yup, I think he’s Grand-Pappy.
Out comes the leash, oh boy we’re going somewhere. Sniff, sniff, wow, more smells and look at this a big place to play and run. There’s even more dogs here. A couple of, Border Collies, yahoo. More herders. Now, if I can just get them into line, we can take over the world. Hmm, these Border Collies seem to be listening more to their Dad, a guy named Paul. Boy, are they ever trained. I wonder if my parents are taking me to school. They’re already working on trying to get me to sit. There’s a big 4 inch tennis ball for me to chase, but I’d rather play with the Border Collies right now, thanks.

Back to the house for some water and breakfast and then for a car ride to a place called Starbucks. Tom and Renee have something really nice smelling in those cups, and they are sitting with me too. Oh boy, maybe I can con them out of some. Time for the big eyes, oh darn, with all this hair, they can’t see them.

Afterwards, we went to a place called Petcetera. Boy, does it ever smell great in here. Food, toys, dogs, and other animals. He wait, why are we going into this back room? I’m not sure I like the look of this! The last time I got led into a room, I woke up and my nuts were gone. Hey, what is this, Tom is lifting me again and Renee has a hose. “Hey, hey, you’re getting me all wet, watch where you spray that thing”. Well, I guess it isn’t too bad, the water is nice and warm, and all these bubbles smell pretty good, but, oh well, it is now time for a good shake. Yahoo, there’s water and bubbles everywhere. Gee, those towels feel really good. Watch where you point that air hose thingy though.

Well, I’m all clean now. Gee, don’t they know how much work I went through to get that dirty? Now I’m going to have to start all over again. Oh well, time for a nap.
