February 16, 2007. Today started off as a nice sunny day, but the clouds quickly rolled back in. While it was still sunny, we headed over to the park for another try. This time my run lasted only 10 minutes before I had another brain fart and started chasing seagulls. I ran off the playing field and down below Tom’s view, which is a leashing offence. Of course, never one to do things halfway, I compounded my punishment when I saw a young Mother and her 1 year old baby playing on the climbing gym. So, I ask you what is a young sheepie to do. I started barking. This brought Tom with the leash, and we got hooked up and headed off the park. Oh woe is me! When will I ever learn?
Last night I did such a good job of guarding the truck, but when Tom stopped to grab a sandwich, he neglected to put the no bite cover over the gearshift knob. When he came out, there I was, caught red handed, er, um, wet mouthed, chewing on the knob. Hey, it was his fault!
After the fiasco at the park, we went off for breakfast and coffee and Tom tried another tactic to get me a run. We went looking for a tennis court. We found one near the restaurant, but, as luck would have it there were two guys playing tennis of all things. They played right through the puddles and what did I see, but a lucky dog tied up next to them. This particular tennis court would not have worked anyway as it just had openings in the fence, no gates. The court is way too close to a major busy street as well and if I got out of there, well my chances for survival would not be good.
Instead we headed home. When we got there we played fetch in the yard for 45 minutes, so I got a good run in and did not get a chance to escape over the fence because Tom was with me the whole time. Mystery the cat, sat in the kitchen window watching closely. I think she really wanted to come and play.
