Goodbye, Ruby Tuesday

April 9, 2007. It started out today raining buckets, so I was beginning to doubt I would get out for my run or a walk today. The weather started to cooperate within an hour or so and eventually turned into a nice day.

We met up with Caroline today and she brought her dog Ruby along. I met Ruby at her house way back in January. But, back then I was an over exuberant puppy and kept knocking her over. Today I was very well behaved and Ruby and I walked side by side the whole time.

We went back to our favourite walking spot at Burnaby Lake, but I couldn’t go off-leash today as there were too many joggers and with Ruby along, we didn’t want to chance it. When we first started it was just spitting a little bit of rain, but within the first 20 minutes or so, the sun was peeking through.

By the time we finished the walk the sun was shining brightly. I didn’t run into anything new today, but it was a big accomplishment to walk quietly with Ruby. I barked at another horse in the distance and only one jogger. Something about her bothered me, but I can’t put my nose on it.

Caroline was impressed with my new maturity and obedience and she and Ruby both really enjoyed our walking spot. Everyone is pooped out after the full 11 kilometer walk though. We never intended to do the full walk today, but we finished it faster today than ever before.
The first time we did the full walk it took us over 4 hours to finish. The second time it took us just under 4 hours to finish. Today we completed the walk in about three hours. How’s that for an improvement?
