Little Green Men

April 1, 2007. Today, four little green men in a flying saucer came to earth and abducted me. April Fool’s!!! Today was a bit different though. First off we could not go to the park as it was over-run with dogs and people. So we played fetch in the backyard for a bit.

After that we changed our usual Sunday routine as well, going for coffee first, before we went for breakfast. That carried its own surprise as well when Renee’s friend Carol joined us. I have met her before and I was happy to see her again. After breakfast we went back to the house quickly so that I could get a drink of water.

Then we started our trek. We went back to our usual trail around the lake. The weather was cloudy and cool, but very nice for walking. We got almost halfway around the lake when I got the surprise of my young life. Walking towards me was a huge animal with a person sitting on top.

The lady aske
d if I had ever seen a horse before, which I had, but only at a distance. This time I was going to get to meet one, up close and personal. The horse’s name was Macy. A tall grey spotted beauty. I looked at the horse and I was not too sure. The horse looked back at me and suddenly I felt very nervous.

Tom had a good hold on me and suddenly I decided to try and talk to it and started barking. The horse just looked right back at me and didn’t say a word. Tom moved me away and Renee and Carol talked to the horse and rider for a bit. Pardon the pun.

Tom also tried out something different for me as well. He hooked me up to a “long lead” instead of my short six foot one. This allowed me to wander approximately 14 feet ahead and gave me much more freedom. Although, it doesn’t at all match being completely off-leash.

Then we continued on our walk and ended up going the complete 11 kilometer distance around it and back to the truck. After we dropped Carol off, we went and got groceries and Tom is going to barbecue ribs tonight. I hope Renee and Tom share them with me, but, I doubt that will happen. It was another great day.
