April 3, 2007. Today I woke up like every other day and my first chore of the day is to cuddle up to my bu
ddy Tom and make sure he is properly awake. I just love waking him up by licking his face. He loves it too, I know he does.
ddy Tom and make sure he is properly awake. I just love waking him up by licking his face. He loves it too, I know he does. Spring has definitely arrived. The sun is shining, trees are blooming, grass is growing and there is a distinctive warmth in the air. The kind of day that a dogs fancy turns to other things. Things like lying in the sun and relaxing, romping in the park and going for much shorter walks.
We could not go out on the park this morning, because the parks crew was out there putting up an outfield fence and grooming the diamond for the upcoming baseball season. So we played fetch in the yard for 45 minutes. Yesterday my park
run was cut short to a half hour because I just was not listening. I ran off after another dog three times and did not come back when I was called. The third time, Tom put me back on the leash and we went home. Later in the afternoon he bought a new thing called a chainsaw and I was not at all happy when he started that thing up. Boy is it loud. Renee held me though, so I felt better.
Today when Tom used the chainsaw, I was ready for it and just lay down behind the boa
t, well away from it. The sun felt good. When we went for a walk today, all the blossoms were out on one street and there were photographers all over the place. Several of them took my picture as well.I forgot to mention earlier what a strange coincidence there is. Renee works in the school where Tom went to elementary school (Grade 4, 5 and 6) some forty years ago. Small world eh?
After the work crew left the park, Tom and I got to go out there for another 45 minute chase the ball session. That is always a lot of fun and this time with the fence in place, it keeps intruders away from my play area.
