Search For Steak

May 8, 2007. Another day, another big adventure. Saturday night after training, Tom barbecued some beef ribs and I got the bones. Wow, are they ever great. I saved a few to savor on Sunday as well.

On Sunday, we went back to Burnaby Lake for the first time in a couple of weeks. We did a full two hour walk, although it was very, very hard on Tom. The medication for his blood pressure is sure taking a toll on him. I hope he gets better soon and we are back to our full routine.

I did a bad thing this weekend too. I was looking at the front of Tom’s boat trailer and saw something that to me looked very yummy. Because it looked so good, I started chewing on it and kept going until I got a good chunk of it off. Hey, how was I supposed to know that it was the wiring harness for the trailer lights? Tom was not a happy camper.

Sunday night I got my usual treat. Now normally I am a very reserved eater. Tom will put out my breakfast at 7 in the morning and sometimes I won’t eat it until 7 in the evening. Tom cooked up my favourite treat of a steak while he was barbecuing his and Renee’s. I was a little too impatient though and ate my bowl of food, then my steak, then my bones and then a milk bone that I saved earlier.

Renee took me for a walk later and Tom stayed home to rest. After we got back though, Renee discovered she had lost her necklace during the walk. I had just gotten comfy and it was time to go back out and use my training in an area search for the lost bauble. I wish I could report a happy ending right away, but despite my training and re-tracing the entire route of our walk, I was unable to locate the missing necklace. Granted it was dark out and Renee was not sure where it fell off. Happy ending though, when she walked back from work on Monday in the sunshine, there it was beside the sidewalk.

Boy am I full, and it would come back to haunt us all later. At 4 in the morning I woke everyone up by puking all over the carpet. Tom and Renee were very concerned about me and kept talking quietly to me and making me feel comfortable.

In the morning though I was still feeling pretty rough, so we did not go to the park for our usual run. I finally started feeling better around noon after chewing on some grass. That allowed us to go visit Renee at lunch time.
