July 3, 2007. Last evening, since we had done a 6K walk in the morning, we were only planning a short one. We walked over to Tom’s friend to get a lift to the boat launch area so that Tom could pick up his truck and trailer. I unfortunately, put the kibosh on that idea, because I refused to ride in his friend’s truck. The put me in and I jumped right out. Well, after some debate, the only option left for us was to walk to the boat launch, some 10 K from our place. Boy, were we tired last evening and again this morning.
The weather was not very cooperative today as it rained. No matter, Tom just lay in bed reading and I crashed out on the floor beside him. By 10 AM the sun was shining and there wasn’t a cloud in the sky. So we did our morning walk then. We only met one car on the road today and when I heard it coming I went over to and sat beside Tom without being asked. How’s that for picking things up quickly?
After our walk we went into town for groceries, gas and repairs. We tried to post the past 5 days worth of Blog entries, but the laptop would not establish a wireless connection for us, so it will have to wait for Saturday when we go in again.
Tom talked to Renee, Caitlin and Tamara, but Karl was working and not available. We went to the Barriere Service Center, a little Super Save gas station and the young fellow jumped to his feet and immediately went to work repairing Tom’s tire. What great service and it only cost $16. Tom gave the kid a $5 tip on top of that. That was a tip well earned.
After we came back we discovered the work crews were over at the neighbours, so we had to listen to the incessant drone of chainsaws and a backhoe as they cleared more land to make way for what surely is, but is completely denied as a “monster house”.
In the evening Tom and I went for another 4 K walk and boy is it ever hot and muggy. Just wore me completely out. Tom says the bugs are worse this year than he has seen them in many years. He is covered in calamine lotion trying to ease the itch of the bites. Good thing I have my “Revolution” treatment as they don’t bother me at all.
