Greyhounds and Horses

July 7, 2007. It was another busy day for me. We started off with our morning walk and did a full 6K plus. We didn’t meet any people or interesting creatures today. Tom brought his Nikon in case the deer was back where it was yesterday, but of course, because he was ready, no deer.

Then it was time to head into town for groceries and things. When we got there we tried the laptop again and this time managed to make a wireless connection. I was able to upload all of my Blog pages and photos so my fans can see what I’ve been up to.

While we were waiting for the Greyhound to arrive, I was very disappointed that it turned out to be a bus. Here I thought I was going to get to see a new playmate in the form of a Greyhound. I’m so disappointed. Well, while we were waiting, we were walking up and down the grassy strip near the highway and I was chasing a million grasshoppers. They were everywhere.

Granted, I was on leash while I was chasing them, because of the highway. I noticed something funny right across the road from me, so I sat down and stared. There was a horse inside a fenced area and he was staring back at me. We stared at each other for a good five minutes without moving. Tom then got me walking northbound and darned if the horse didn’t turn and walk northbound and keep perfect pace with us. When we turned to go back south, he did too. I have a horse fan. Who knew?

Once we were back to the cabin, Tom took me down to the lake for some more swimming lessons. Before the hour was over, I was pretty much dog paddling properly without splashing, and by doing that I found it much easier to see and grab the ball. Also, by this time, there was no hesitation on my part at all. Tom threw the ball and I went swimming.

It looked like it was going to storm so Tom moved the boat off the dock and on to the mooring float. It was all for naught though as the rains never came, although it was much cooler today. It seems to be a trend, every time we need to go to town the weather cools down. Probably a good thing for me.

When we were done swimming, Tom gave me a very nice beef knuckle bone which I worked on until it was demolished. When we finished dinner and headed out for our evening walk, we bumped into Tom’s cousins Jack and Helene who had just arrived with their dog “Missy”. After our walk we went and visited at their cabin until I got restless and we came home.
