Shake Your Booty

July 5, 2007. Man, it is hot today. It is 35 degrees Celsius. It was much cooler in the morning when we went for our usual 4K walk. Tom was up most of the night sick and so when we came back from the walk, he just lay down and we snoozed most of the morning away. Snoozing is actually an accepted way of life at the cabin.

I was actually amazed that he could sleep with all of the noise a few cabins over. The big digging machine started up at 7:30 AM and the dump trucks started arriving a few minutes after. There was a steady stream of dump trucks in and out of there all day. At about 4:30 PM the noise stopped and the big digger went rumbling down the road. I was on my way up to tell it off when Tom called me back.

Late in the afternoon, we went down to the beach and Tom paddled out to the boat and got aboard. I wasn’t to terribly happy about that, but I really didn’t raise too much fuss. Tom pulled into the dock and tried to coax me into the boat, but I was not having any part of that idea. By that time though a wind had come up and the lake was really choppy, so that ended that idea for now.

Instead, Tom started throwing the ball for me. Each time he threw it the ball was in a little deeper water. On one throw the ball was still reachable, but when I tried to grab it, I bumped it with my nose and it went further out. It kept drifting and finally I just went for it and started swimming. Hey, look at me, I am actually, fully fledged, dog paddling, swimming…Yahoo! I didn’t get the ball, so I swam into shore and jumped on the dock. I was trying to reach it from there.

I just kept leaning further and further over and trying to swat it with my paw when I dove in to get it. I actually slipped and fell in, but, it looks better if I say that I dove. After that, I just kept going right back in and swimming more and more. It felt really nice and kept me cool on such a hot day.

Hey there! Just cravin another update on the two of you. Another pitstop here at the VPL. Once I get the city out of me, I'll be free to join you with a big splash in the lake. Renee
