Walk 'Till You Drop

July 9, 2007. It’s another beautiful summer day. Nice and warm with a light breeze. Glenda joined us on our walk this morning and we ended up walking all the way to the little bridge at 13K. That’s the farthest I have ever been down the road. Tom says it’s the farthest he’s ever gone as well and he’s been coming here a lot longer than me. By the time we got back we had done a full 10K walk in about 2.5 hours. I was bagged by the end of it and so was Tom.

We spent the rest of the morning relaxing and then later on went down to the lake for some more swimming lessons. I am getting very confident now in my swimming abilities, with very little hesitation now before I head out into the water. I am also doing more and more of a natural dog paddle instead of splashing with my front feet. At one point my tennis ball sank and I kept looking for it. Because I wouldn’t come in until I found it, Tom dove down and got it for me.

After our swim, Tom brought the boat in and this time I jumped in with very little coaxing. I am much more comfortable now with this being my third cruise in it. I sat up front and then stood beside Tom and let the wind blow through my hair. The whole cruise acted like a giant blow dryer and by the time we pulled back into the dock, I was completely dry.

Perry and Teri are back so I went over to visit them for awhile before dinner. I still stand off to the side and bark though. I’ll get used to this visiting idea sooner or later. Jack, Helene and Missy seem to have gone home though.

After dinner, Perry and Teri were is floating in the lake in front of our place, so I sat by the stump chair and pretended I was a lifeguard and kept my eyes on them. When I was done with that, Tom and I went for our evening walk. We ended up doing another 6K tonight and on the way back a man on an ATV stopped and visited with us. He was very nice and his name was Drew.
