Right around lunch time, the clouds rolled in, the thunder roared and the wind picked up. This time, Tom, Caitlin and Matias were able to get the tops on the boat before the rains came. The wind was coming from the north and everything was shaping up to be a bad north storm. Tom has not finished the anchor point and was unable to put the boat out there.
Fortunately, the severe north storm did not materialize. In fact it was much like yesterday in that the wind died down after about 10 minutes. The rain took a little longer to stop, but then the sun came back out. That’s when all the wake boarders, skiers, and tubers came out. It’s the busiest we have seen the lake this year, and still it is much quieter than most lakes.
Caitlin’s back is still bothering her a lot and Matias is just recovering from a work injury, so even if the weather had cooperated for them, it is doubtful they would have been able to do any wakeboarding anyway.
We all sat down and waited out the rain by watching some comedy clips from Russell Peters and then watched the movie, World’s Fastest Indian. It was really good. When it ended, the rain had stopped and the sun came out.
After dinner Tom and I went for our evening walk and had the gang of ATV riders and the go-kart go past again. I was really straining at my collar to get to them when something strange happened. There were a couple of really loud bangs from them that totally freaked me out. Tom tried to calm me down by telling me they were backfires, but I don’t know what that means.
All I know is that they scared the bejesus out of me. For the rest of the walk out and back I walk on Tom’s heel and whenever any traffic went by, I automatically sat beside Tom without being told. In fact I was so glued to him; he really didn’t even need to hold my collar, although he did. Better to be safe, because I could at any second decide to go.
When we came back we had my second ever campfire. Tom invited Jack, Helene and Missy, but they didn’t come over. Perry and Teri did though. I was even more comfortable at this campfire than yesterday and flopped down just basking in the heat from it. All the humans sat and visited and looked at the stars. I fell asleep.
