ATV Fever

August 6, 2007. This morning was a happy and sad day for me. I didn’t figure out why it was sad until we got back from our walk. When we left on our walk, a short time into it, one of my favourite people at the lake was jogging up behind us. She was with her neighbour’s dog “Seymour”. I have met her before too. They decided to slow down and join us on our walk.

Seymour and I romped back and forth on the road, around in circles, into the streams, up into the bush and then did it all over again on the whole walk. We ended up doing 8K for the morning and I think Seymour and I must have done 20K by the time we were down.

Wow, am I ever dirty. Almost the dirtiest I have been since I arrived up here. Tired doesn’t even begin to describe how I feel. When we got back from our walk, Caitlin and Matias were waiting. They had cleaned up the whole cabin, swept, picked up the empty bottles from the bin and packed their car.

We got down to the house and then turned around and walked back up. I looked at them like they were nuts, but I trudged up there anyway. Caitlin gave me big hugs, Matias rubbed my ears and they both hugged Tom and then got into their car and left.

I stood there for awhile watching the driveway to see if they would come back, then I trudged down to the cabin and flopped on the deck where I promptly fell asleep. I am zonked.

In the afternoon, after I woke up, we went over to visit with Perry, Teri and Libby for awhile and admire Perry’s handiwork on his new roof. From there we wandered over to visit with Jack, Helene and Missy. I got into all sorts of mischief there. Missy told me off because I wanted to play and she didn’t. Then I went up the old abandoned stairs and got myself stuck at the top. Tom and Jack rescued me though.

From there we came home, had dinner and then went for our evening walk. I was sticking pretty close to Tom this evening and every time I heard an ATV or a motorcycle I sat down at the side of the road. It didn’t matter if they were miles away or on a different road up the mountain. If I could hear them, I was sitting.

Once we got home, Tom went down to the lake and soaked his tired feet and I lay down beside him. The weather is closing in this evening so we are going to skip the campfire tonight. Maybe tomorrow we will resume. It sure is lonely without Caitlin and Matias.
