The three of us headed out on our morning walk and while we were going we heard a vehicle approaching very fast. Tom called me and I came over and sat down and he held my collar. A red and silver pickup truck went past us like a low flying airplane, he was moving so fast.
Renee screamed at him to slow down. He was going so fast I’m surprised her voice was able to catch up to him, but it must have, as he slammed on his brakes and backed up. The driver asked her “what did you say”? So, Renee told him to slow down as there are kids playing, people walking and dogs running around on this road.
He pointed out that it is a forest service road, while Renee said that it was no excuse and that several people had commented on his driving. He is a guy supervising several construction sites at the lake, including next door, and he flies everywhere he drives. He almost hit us head-on yesterday when we were coming back from town.
Later in the day, he drove past several more times, but we noticed that he had in fact slowed down dramatically. So I guess he can be taught. Who knew? If Tom had not been watching me closely and listening for traffic, I would not have stood a chance and would have been squashed like a bug.
It got very hot this afternoon and suddenly a north wind came up, but it was a hot breeze. It was so warm it almost felt like sitting next to a campfire. It was quite a change over the temperatures of the last week. Because of the sudden wind, Tom put the boat out on the float. After he put the covers on, he was standing on the stern, contemplating his swim in, when a sudden wave rocked the boat; Tom lost his balance and fell in. It was really funny, but I was concerned about whether he was ok or not.
Tom gave me a huge bone this afternoon and I took it out back, dug a big hole with my feet, dropped the bone in and then pushed the dirt over it with my nose. It’s being held in reserve and I will grab it later as long as I can remember where the heck I buried it.
Renee pulled out her paint set and painted a portrait of me. It looks really good with the brown background. It’s apparently a water colour, but I’m not really sure what that means. It doesn’t look like the colour of water.
