Lawyers, Great Eating

January 10, 2007. Another adventure, back to court again. Tom has his suit on and we are headed back down to the court house again. In the underground parking lot, I see lots of lawyers going by. Gee, I would sure love to get out and bite them. I don’t know why I feel like this, but, then again, I guess everyone feels that way about lawyers. This time Tom is gone a lot longer, I wonder if he will be staying this time to testify, wait a minute, here he comes now. Apparently after almost 8 months lead time, the prosecutors have finally decided that they don’t need Tom’s evidence. That is apparently the last court case Tom is scheduled for and now he can really enjoy his retirement. I heard him say on the phone to Renee, “To paraphrase Martin Luther King – Free at last, free at last, thank god almighty I’m free at last”. I don’t know who that is, but I can relate to the statement. Tom and Renee have freed my spirit.

We stopped at the usual breakfast spot and Tom went in. What a surprise he got inside. He got to meet up with his last work partner, Julia and her recruit. I got to meet her too and she is really nice. There were several other police officers there too, so it was like a mini reunion.

After we got home, Tom took me out on the park and we got to play fetch for over an hour without any interruptions. It was great, but, I’m so tired, my tongue is dragging. It was a slow walk back to the house where I had some food, a drink of water and then flopped down on the carpet for a snooze.

Later that night Tom and I went on a very long, one and a half hour walk around the neighbourhood. We went past his coffee spot and his breakfast spot and the place Renee works. We met lots of new people on the way and new dogs. I’m not as scared now of those big buses and trucks, but, it sure startles me when we step on one of those big metal sidewalk plates and it goes clunk.
