Seagulls, Crows and Geese

February 26, 2007. It is another miserable day here. Not only is it grey, cold and raining, there’s even some snow mixed in with the rain. The park is one large puddle so we didn’t go out first thing in the morning. Later on after Tom and I dropped Renee off at work, Tom and I went for breakfast. I did notice Tom loading up my ball launcher and his rain gear, so we will see what happens.

After breakfast, since New Brighton is so close to the restaurant, Tom drove down there. There was a bunch of crazy guys in the middle of the field there playing something called rugby. They were so wet and muddy, they looked like me. However, the huge tennis court was empty, so that’s where we headed.

Tom let me loose and I was chasing crows, seagulls and Canada geese that were flying over. After awhile of that, Tom called me over and we started to play fetch. He sure can throw that ball a long way with the launcher. It sails from one fence to the other. We played in the sleet and rain for over 45 minutes.

Suddenly I stepped on something and it hurt. I don’t know whether it was a small rock or a broken mussel shell that one of those pesky seagulls dropped there. I was limping a little and I decided that the game was over right there. I flopped down on my belly in a puddle and licked my foot. Tom came over and rubbed it, then checked it over. It felt much better after that.

We headed home and I wasn’t even limping anymore, so it wasn’t too serious. I’m grabbing a quick nap right now, because we will be walking over to meet Renee for lunch and drop off an umbrella for her to use after work if it is still raining. One day, the sun will come out again, I hope.
