June 25, 2007. The countdown is on. Tom and I leave for the lake in just three more days. I won’t get to see Renee until she joins us late in July and we are not sure when or if any of Tom’s kids will make it up this year. We sure hope so.
I am really looking forward to the trip and I know Tom is. He has gotten the boat ready and started to stack up all the stuff we need to take with us. This way it will be all ready for loading into the truck the night before we leave. I will try and write at least once more before we go.
Once we are at the lake we are cut off from phones and internet, so I will only be able to post to the blog once every four or five days when we come into town for supplies. Of course, that all depends on whether or not we can get an accessible wireless connection with Tom’s laptop. I am quite sure I will have lots and lots of adventures to report on.
On Saturday we made a trip to the vet and I got my Lyme disease booster shot. Before we got home, Renee disappeared on me. She went to a retirement party and Tom came home with me. We had done a run in the park before then, but we didn’t do our usual Burnaby Lake walk. The weather was bad and I wasn’t feeling particularly great after my injection.
I did get to run in the park again in the evening, for a little bit and we walked around the neighbourhood after. Then it was time for lots of cuddles after Renee came back from the party.
On Sunday I went for an hour run in the park and then the weather got terrible again. We spent most of the day indoors, especially when the thunder and lightning started. I really did not like that loud booming sound of the thunder. It didn’t really scare me, but, I really didn’t like it. Then the rain and hail started. I looked outside and decided that there is no way I’m going out in that.
Late in the evening, the skies cleared and I got to do another run in the park and then we went for a walk. The whole are smells so fresh and clean after that big storm. I just have to sniff absolutely everything.

Today after dropping Renee off at work, Tom and I went for an hour long run in the park. About halfway through the play session, we were joined by a little puff-ball dog named Harley Davidson. How appropriate considering my love of motorcycles. The man with Harley said that he has never learned how to play fetch.
Tom and I spent about a minute with Harley and then he was chasing the ball right alongside me. I was being very nice and letting him win and get the ball and showing him how to bring it back. Everything was going great and then suddenly he turned on me.
I don’t even know where that came from or why. He just growled and lunged at me but all he got was a mouthful of fur. My long hair really comes in handy for protection of all sorts. Harley just would not let it go, and a dog can only take so much. Finally I let him know who is boss.

I’m three times his size and very quickly flipped him on his back and held him down. At this point I could have easily ripped his throat out, but I am too nice for that. I just held him and growled at him to let him know he had done wrong. Tom pulled me off and Harley’s owner apologized and then they both left. You just can’t trust those little dogs.
On the way home, I met a Border collie named Skye. We introduced ourselves and then it was time to go. While we were walking in, we met up with two mail carriers. I went up and said hello to both of them very nicely. I remember my other favourite carrier. Both of them said they were amazed that they had never heard me barking at them. Well of course, that is because I never have. I like the mail carriers.
