Comb Out

July 23, 2007. I woke up this morning smelling clean and fresh after my bath in the lake yesterday. I even got a bit of a brushing from both Tom and Renee, but I am sure there is more to come as I am still pretty badly matted. Even so, once Renee got up, we retrieved Glenda and then did our morning walk.

We walked all the way down to the little bridge and stream at 13K and back again. That gave us a full 10K walk. What was even better is that the weather is starting to improve. The sun was poking through in patches and it has started to warm back up.

Once we got back from the walk, Tom laid down to read while Renee and I went out on the deck. She brushed and combed me most of the afternoon. I look much more fluffy again and not like such a wild dog. There is still a ways to go, but I am much improved. It’s amazing what happens when I am patient and let myself be groomed.

Of course while we were on our walk I stuck my head into some weeds and looked like I had been sprayed in the face with grass seeds. Those needed combing out too.

When the sun came out, Renee went down and lay down on the end of the dock, so I went down and lay down beside her, to protect her from rogue waves. We were only down there for about a half an hour though when the clouds rolled back in and it started to rain again for a bit. Tom got the tops back on the boat today, so it didn’t fill up with water.

After dinner we again collected Glenda and went for our evening walk. Tom’s feet were still sore and Glenda had a blister, so we only did our usual 4K in the evening. When we came back, Tom was talking about our first campfire of the season, but the weather is still too unsettled to risk getting either soaked or having a major wind whip up. Instead I sat on the deck with Renee while she practiced her guitar.
