Wet Dog

July 12, 2007. This morning we got up early and after Tom had some breakfast we went on our morning walk. I sure do appreciate Tom doing this for me because he has been so sick lately. Even so, I’ve been getting lots and lots of exercise and having so much fun.

In the afternoon it was very hot out, 35 degrees Celsius, so we went down to the lake for a swim. Tom threw the ball for me a few times and then I decided it was time for a blow dry. So I walked over and jumped into the boat and sat there. Tom quickly got the message that I wanted to go for a ride, so he untied the boat and off we went.

After twenty minutes or so we came back in and Tom went swimming and floating on the tube. Well, I decided to go back in myself and this time it didn’t take the tennis ball to get me in. I just walked into the water and started swimming. I swam almost from the dock to just past “Fire Island” and then came in looking for my tennis ball.

Tom threw it for me and now I am swimming to a point halfway between the end of the dock and the mooring float. Before the end of summer, heck before Renee gets here next week I should be able to go out to the float and back. How quickly I have learned.

After about an hour of swimming, Tom decided I had done enough and we went up to the cabin where I was rewarded with a nice big bone. I think there may have been another motive though. Tom knows if I have a bone I go outside and lie there chewing it. When I am damp I have a habit of jumping up on and relaxing either on the couch or on Tom’s bed.

Of course, that leaves the couch and bed nice and wet for Tom. I’m sure he appreciates the cool dampness when he lies down. Perry and Teri have been having trouble with their boat. They had just had some work done on it in town and so the mechanic drove out to the lake and fixed it here.
