August 14, 2007. At 8:00 this morning, Tom, Glenda and I were starting out on our walk and were met at the top of the driveway by Teri. We walked to 11K and back and then Tom and I went in for breakfast.
While we were eating we heard a truck arrive next door and thought maybe it was our new and mysterious neighbour. No such luck though, it turned out to be a work crew changing the interior and exterior of the cabin next door. They think that the new owner might be up next week.
I was really good and did not go over to bother them even once, although I did react a few times to loud bangs when they dropped lumber or tools. I just lay on the front deck and basked in the nice warm sunshine and when I got too warm I moved to the shade. A few times I ran down to the beach to check things out and to wade a little.
Just about dinner time Tom loaded me into the truck and we drove down the road in the direction we usually walk. We pulled into a side road that I have always wondered about. Then I discovered that there are more cabins down there and we were going to one.
Once there we piled out of the cabin and I got to meet some very good friends of Tom. They were really nice and all of them liked me a lot. There were a boy and a girl for me to play with. Meghan really liked me, but Andrew was a little bit nervous because I am so big and he wasn’t feeling too well from a bee sting earlier. I think I scared him even more when I kept trying to jump up and say hello.
I eventually got banished to the truck for awhile because I would not settle down. I sat in there for a bit and felt shame and then Tom came and got me out again. Later on Tom drove Darren and Me back to our place and we got the boat.
Gord was making his world famous ribs and they smelled so good to me. Unfortunately because they were pork ribs, I wasn’t allowed to have any. Tom gave me my supper before we came though and I wolfed it right down, so I was not hungry anyway.
We stopped off and picked up Gill, Meghan and Andrew and went for a cruise around the lake. This was my longest ever trip in the boat and it last over an hour while we toured everywhere. It was a very fun evening and I really settled down, so that Andrew was much more comfortable around me. In fact I settled down so much I lay down beside Tom and fell asleep in the boat.
