August 1, 2007. I had a wonderful surprise first thing this morning. Tom and I left for our morning walk and as we got to the top of our driveway, there were my friends Buddy and his owner Ian coming towards us. Ian was on a bicycle and I completely ignored him and concentrated on playing with Buddy. We ran back and forth on the road. We romped into the bushes and then ran all the way down to the lake and back up. Then Tom and I continued on our 6K walk.
In the afternoon, Tom and I went down to the beach and he started planning out the new anchor point for his boat. After lifting big concrete blocks, his back was sore so he laid down on the dock for a rest. I lay down beside him and then shifted around so he could rest his head on me. We both fell asleep like that, until Perry and Teri came down to their beach.
Tom scared me soon after. He started pulling on a black hood and a black with blue suit and then a big heavy looking vest thing. I don’t know what he is doing, but I wasn’t going to stand still for it and barked my displeasure about it. Once Tom started talking to me and walked over and petted me, I was ok. He was all geared up to do something called diving.
Then he threw himself into the water and started to swim out to the big orange float. It was then that I got worried again as he sank below the water and didn’t come up for quite a while. The water kept bubbling where he went down. Awhile later, Tom popped up out of the water right beside me on the dock. How did he get there?
The big orange float is now 60 feet off to the side, almost back where it started. Apparently, the big storm we had, uprooted the sunken tree that the float was attached to. Now it is attached to a big steel truck wheel loaded down with chains, concrete blocks, rocks and mud. That should hold it and we will be able to put the boat back out on the float during storms.
Even after all that, Tom took me for our evening walk. Ever since getting one picture of the deer, he has been carrying his Nikon with the telephoto lens, and of course, we have not seen a deer since. Once we got back from there, we went over and visited Perry, Teri and Libby for awhile and then came home. I was a real searched over there. I kept finding work gloves for Perry, but, he wanted them back, so I would have to search for more.
